a Thai Nguyen University of Technology, Thai Nguyen, Viet Nam
Highlights and Novelties
1- Control algorithms are proposed to lead mobile sensors in sensing fields.
2- Advanced communication technologies are considered for mobile sensors.
3- Networking protocols are proposed to build the networks.
Mobile sensor networks (MSNs) have opened up many new possibilities for emerging applications in the area of event tracking and surveillances. The existing techniques have been proven to support various applications for different fields. Mobile sensors overcome static sensors at some main points as sensing coverage, dynamic sensing and also target tracking, etc. However, as compared to great interest of research, limited number of frameworks have been deployed in real world due to control algorithms, communication techniques applied and their networking problems over many constraints on both devices and algorithms. In this topic, mobile sensors can be feasible solutions for data collection in an energy efficient way to reduce the total energy consumption. An appropriate number of mobile sensor can be deployed in a sensing area for data collection, event detection and target tracking purposes. Different kinds of sensors are attached in mobile robots for particular applications. They can work in different kinds of sensing fields and communicate to the base-station or to others. The communication technologies integrated into the mobile sensors should be considered since various sensing fields require different propagation models. In addition, the collaboration between to the mobile sensors or robots is an opening approach for research exploitations.
This Special Issue aims to present the state-of-the-art of the open technical problems and challenges in controls, communication and networking for mobile sensors by including integrating novel solutions efficiently, and focusing on the performance evaluation and comparison with existing standards.
