Highlights and Novelties
1- Firstly, common applications of UAV communication networks are reviewed comprehensively.

2- Secondly, challenges with the UAV communication networks are provided.

3- Thirdly, opening issues for the future developments are addressed to motivate new results to improve the networks.

 

Manuscript Abstract
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) currently facilitate many applications in different fields. In practice, there are still many challenges for the UAVs to complete their missions in harsh condition that need to be solved. Motion related changes or UAV physical constraints compromise communication. Various kinds of data are used via the relaying UAVs that give burden of capacity for the network while the existing source/channel coding from the domain of multimedia networks might not be sufficient. In addition, control strategies for UAVs to deal with network maintenance and UAV charging need to optimize. This paper aims to review applications of UAV communication networks and points out benefits and challenges that the networks are facing. Different points are considered to the networks to be improved for better performance. In addition, the paper analyzes almost the problems in the networks that leads the future developments for many communication applications utilizing UAVs.
